Delphi, Greece

Like most other places in Greece Delphi was built on a cliff! You can't really tell from the pictures but you basically climb a mountain to see everything, not the full mountain but it felt like it. I am just thankful it wasn't TOO hot. Last summer when my brother was there it was around 110 degrees... YIKES!

This was the Treasury of the Athenians.

This is just some of the detail that you see on everything. I can't imagine how long it must have taken to finish all the details on these structures!

Here is a picture from about the mid point of our hike. You can see the top of the Treasury building down there on the right.

Ryan was dead weight for Dad to carry... sound asleep. He loved this little contraption and would always fall asleep.

See how this wall fits together like a puzzle... pretty cool. Also, if you click on the picture you can see like rough lines over the entire wall... it is writing. No clue what it says, but they obviously thought it was important! :)

This is the amphitheatre at Delphi.

That little itty bitty 3 column structure (which you can see better by clicking on it) is the famous picture from Delphi. we later walked to it and got some great pictures... which we later somehow lost in the transfer of all our pictures to the laptop. :(



And what did we get from the hike to the top !?!?! A look at a field/stadium... I wasn't too impressed to say the least. Oh well... the rest of it was pretty cool.

Meteora, Greece

While in Lamia we took a day trip to Meteora. It was one of the neatest places I have ever been. Meteora is famous for its monasteries and nunneries that are built right on the edge of these huge cliffs. We decided that ancient Greeks must have been crazy and when you see the pictures I think you will agree! It also seemed like every city in Greece was built on a mountain side instead of the valley that was right next to it... nuts! (I have more pictures of those later!) There must be some reason behind it, since I refuse to admit that my ancestors were totally insane! :)

***Ok so I do know that they built up high for protection, but it is still kinda crazy! :)

Here is a cute LITTLE old lady we saw on the street in Meteora. She was moving all of 2 ft per minute but refused a ride since she was not too far from where she was going. Its amazing the energy and strength these little old ladies have since they walk everywhere!




These pictures are of the same nunnery. You can click the pictures to get a close up. We stopped on the edge of this narrow road to take the first picture and almost got smashed by a huge bus! They bricked right up to the rock it is sitting on... totally amazing!

Lamia, Greece

This is the first place in Greece that we went. San Fransisco has nothing on this place, the streets are so steep. Here are a few pictures of the city. In many places the streets get too steep and turn into stairs.

You walk most places since the streets are incredibly narrow. We luckily brought a carrier for Ryan and he loved it. He would always fall asleep as we were walking through town. Here is him with my dad. Isn't he a cutie with that little hat! :)


We stayed with the nicest family Kosta, Alekka, Electra, and Noti. They just fell in love with Ryan and he loved all of them too!!

This is my Dad's cousin Kula (in black), her husband Foti (the guy who's head is half covered) and their family.

We had such a great time there and felt so loved. It's amazing how you can have family on the other side of the World and still have such an amazing bond. They were all so great and we miss them already!

Hello :)

I thought I would start this blog to keep family and friends updated on our family. I am not promising to post too often, since I know that I probably will not. However, I will try to update with recent pics of Ryan since he grows way too fast. Later today I will try to post some pics of our trip to Greece!

Here is a pic of Ryan from our trip in the beginning of May. This picture was taken at Shipwreck Cove on the island of Zakenthos. He now is crawling everywhere and climbing onto everything. Just a matter of time before he lets go to walk... amazing how fast it has gone!!
